An “All-Women Sata Chandi” Will Be Held Aug 10-11, 2019

The Sri Vidya Temple is pleased to announce that a first-ever “All-Women Sata Chandi” will be held at the Temple Aug 10-11, 2019!

In this Sata Chandi, all of the ritwiks, pujacharyas and homa kartas will be women. To our knowledge, this is the first time such an event has been held anywhere in the world!

The All-Women Sata Chandi is being jointly conducted by the Sri Vidya Temple and the GRD Iyers GuruCool. The GuruCool was started by Sri Ramesh Natarajan in 2002 and is ably supported by his wife Sridevi Gayathri and daughter Sri Durga Ramesh.

As in the Temple, the GuruCool’s core values include spreading Sanatana Dharma, protecting its scriptures by teaching those interested without any discrimination based on caste or gender, and commitment to women’s empowerment for learning and practicing the holy texts of Sanatana Dharma. It is our humble and heartfelt wish that this devotional offering will bring Sri Chandi’s powerful divine blessings for peace, prosperity and happiness, while also spreading the message of full empowerment of all women. We hope you will join us in offering this auspicious Sata Chandi to Divine Mother Sri Chandi Devi!

Sponsorship Opportunities

For those who would like to sponsor this divine event and receive blessed prasadam, several sponsorship and participation opportunities are available. Blessed prasadam will be available for pickup on Sunday only. If you are not able to attend on Sunday, please select the option to “mail my prasadam”. Please fill out the 2019 Sata Chandi Sponsorship Form to sponsor.

Please Note: Some of the sponsorships allow sponsors to make offerings directly to the homa fire or Chandi Devi kalasas, which is an incredibly rare and auspicious blessing. To participate with your own hands, you must be present on Sunday during the program. If you can’t be present, but you still want to select those sponsorships, we will mail your blessed prasadam to you.

All sponsors will receive a blessed thread and kumkum/vibhuti, and will be included in the sankalpam chanted each day. Yajna raksha is a paste made by lighting the pure and auspicious kusha grass in the homa fire and mixing that ash with ghee. When applied to the forehead, the yajna raksha transmits the full divine energy of the homa to us, giving protection, healing and inner purification. It is a priceless blessing to receive yajna raksha from such a holy event.

Sankalpam Sponsorship: Sponsors will be included in the sankalpam chanted on each day and will receive a blessed thread, kumkum and vibhuti.

Mangalyam Sponsorship: A gold mangalyam will be offered to Devi during the Chandi Homa on the sponsor’s behalf. Sponsors will also receive yajna raksha.

Ahuti Sponsorship: Sponsors will have the chance to offer one ahuti of auspicious items into the homa fire with their own hands and will receive yajna raksha.

Purnahuti Sponsorship: Sponsors will prepare one purnahuti and will sit at a homa kundam for one chapter of Devi Mahatmyam before offering the purnahuti with their own hands. Sponsors will also receive yajna raksha and a silver pendant energized during the Sata Chandi.

Chandi Kalasam Sponsorship: Sponsors will have the chance to sit near their sponsored kalasam and offer flower petals during one chapter of Devi Mahatmyam. They will also receive some of the kalasa teertham as well as yajna raksha and a silver pendant energized during the Sata Chandi.

Grand Chandi Sponsorship: Sponsors will sit at one of the homa kundas (1 person per family) for the last three chapters of Devi Mahatmyam and will offer samit throughout the whole chapter. Sponsors will also receive yajna raksha and a gold-plated coin energized during the Sata Chandi.

Silver Chandi Sponsorship: Sponsors will sit at one of the homa kundas (1 person per family) for the entire Chandi Homa while offering samit into the sacred homa fire. Sponsors will also receive yajna raksha, a gold-plated coin, energized valampuri shankha, and prasadam sari.

To sponsor, please fill out the 2019 Sata Chandi Sponsorship Form.
